Naniwa Diamond stones are the ultimate sharpening nerd stones. This super hard diamond stone stays flat for ages and grinds steel quite fast, so it’s good for sharpening super tough abrasion-resistant steels, removing flat spots on primary bevels, and fixing the backs of single bevel knives.
This stone eats steel like a dream, so it’s perfect for resetting, flattening, or altering bevels without leaving deep scratches. It also excels at starting edges on super hard knives.
When to use this stone:
- Cuts steel quickly and no soaking is required, just splash and go.
- Sets a good flat foundation for any knife thinning you are doing and takes out deep stratches very quickly, priming your knife for finer stones.
- Works great for touch-ups on rugged outdoor knives.
- Due to its hardness, it is by far the longest-lasting low grit stone available and will need much less truing than other low grit stones.
That said, always flatten your stone with a truing stone after sharpening.
