Naniwa Diamond stones are the ultimate sharpening nerd stones. This super hard diamond stone stays flat for ages and grinds steel quite fast, so it’s good for sharpening super tough abrasion-resistant steels, removing flat spots on primary bevels, and fixing the backs of single bevel knives.
This grit is excellent for starting somewhat sharp edges, refining rough edges, and polishing scratched steel.
When to use this stone:
- Cuts steel quickly and no soaking is required, just splash and go.
- Excellent for touching up western and hard-working Japanese knives that you want a stronger edge.
- Not the ideal stone knife thinning, the 1000 grit is a little hard, but possible to get a very nice finish with a bit of practice. To achieve a nice Kasumi finish the Knifewear 1000 grit stone is ideal.
- If you believe in “Buy it once”, this is the stone for you.
Always flatten your stone with a truing stone after sharpening.
